Jacqueline LaPan Edgerton

Jackie represents clients in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Her practice focuses on representing individuals who have suffered civil rights and constitutional violations, catastrophic bodily injuries, and families who have lost a loved one in wrongful death claims. She joined McLeod Law Group, LLC in 2013 and draws on her wide-range of litigation experience to vigorously advocate for her clients. Her background includes labor and employment law for the U.S. Department of the Army; criminal law as a prosecutor in Georgia and the District of Columbia; and civil litigation and securities defense in private practice as an associate at Crowell & Moring LLP in Washington, D.C.

Jackie received her B.A. from Vanderbilt University in 1998, graduating magna cum laude, and earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2002, where she competed in the Cardozo/BMI Entertainment & Communications Law Moot Court Competition, winning Best Oral Advocate Team and Best Brief. She also participated in Georgetown's Criminal Justice Clinic during her third year, working as a student attorney representing individuals charged with misdemeanor crimes in D.C. Superior Court.

Following graduation, Jackie clerked for the Honorable Barbara A. Madsen, Justice on Washington State's Supreme Court, where she worked on an array of complex civil and criminal issues appealed to Washington State's highest appellate court for a decision. Upon the completion of her husband’s active duty commitment as a physician with the U.S. Army, Jackie and her family put down roots in Charleston, where they enjoy time at the beach and on the water every chance they get.
