Cooper Wilson joins McLeod Law Group, LLC after practicing law in Charleston
at a respected civil defense firm where he was a partner. He has extensive
civil litigation and trial experience and handles
medical malpractice, products liability,
automobile, sexual assault, and general negligence cases.
He is from Sumter, SC and attended Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia where
he lettered in basketball and tennis. He was selected Academic All-Conference
by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
Cooper returned to South Carolina, graduating
cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2004. He earned his law degree
from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2007. While in
Columbia, he served as an aide to the Honorable David H. Wilkins, Speaker
of the South Carolina House of Representatives and was a law clerk for
the South Carolina House of Representatives Judiciary Committee.
Cooper has an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell and
has been listed as a Rising Star by South Carolina Super Lawyers since
2013. He recently co-authored The Law of Automobile Insurance in South
Carolina, Seventh Edition. He is a member of the James L. Pettigru Inn
of Court, an organization comprised of judges, lawyers and law students
from the 9th Judicial Circuit.
Cooper serves on the Board of Directors for the Special Olympics of South
Carolina. He has been named the Star of the Quarter by the SC Young Lawyers
Division several times for his volunteer efforts with this group. Cooper
and his wife, Mary Mac, live in downtown Charleston where they are active
in their Cannonborough-Elliotborough neighborhood and St. Michael’s Church.
