Attorney Walton J. "Tad" McLeod, IV is a South Carolina native dedicated to providing effective advocacy for any person in need. Born in Columbia, Tad grew up in Little Mountain, South Carolina located in Newberry County.

Tad is a graduate of Episcopal High School (1997), Tulane University (B.A. 2001) and the University of South Carolina, School of Law (J.D. 2008). Tad was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2008, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina in 2009, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims in 2012.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Tad served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy and was based out of Norfolk, Virginia. During his naval service Tad served as Strike Warfare Officer of USS Thorn (DD-988) and Navigator of USS Mitscher (DDG-57), participating in deployments to the Mediterranean Sea and Indian Ocean supporting operations for the global war on terrorism. He is passionate about his state, country and serving fellow Americans through his legal practice.

Legal Career and Practice Areas

After graduating from the University of South Carolina, School of Law, Tad served as law clerk for the Honorable James R. Barber, III, and later began his practice in the field of insurance defense litigation and later transitioned to personal injury litigation. Today he also represents veterans who are seeking VA Disability Compensation both at the local regional office level and appellate stage. In addition to his representation of veterans, Tad concentrates his practice in civil litigation representing people who have been seriously injured or aggrieved as a result of negligence, auto accidents, tractor trailer collisions, financial fraud, consumer matters, and bad faith insurance claim denials. He has also successfully defended clients whose professional licenses were under investigation before the S.C. Department of Labor, License and Regulation (SCLLR).

Taking Time to Give Back

Tad has volunteered his time to assist with middle and high school mock trial competitions throughout the Midlands of South Carolina and served as a special prosecutor for the Attorney General's office in matters involving criminal domestic violence. He is also a member of the Young Lawyer's Division iCivics committee and enjoys going to local schools to discuss the importance and organization or our democracy. In addition Tad is also member of the American Legion, Richland Sertoma Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Tad and his wife Catherine live in Irmo, South Carolina with their three children, and are active members of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
